If you own an EV charger in the Netherlands and it’s MID-certified, it can generate ERE certificates (Energie uit Hernieuwbare Bronnen voor vervoer, roughly “renewable energy for transport”) that get sold on to fuel suppliers who need to meet their renewable-fuel obligations. Joulo is one of the platforms that handles this: it reads your charger’s metered energy, converts it into ERE credits, sells them on the market, and pays you a share.

If you’ve added your Synology NAS to Home Assistant expecting a “wake up” button somewhere, you’ve probably gone looking and found nothing. That’s not a missing setting — the Synology DSM integration only manages the NAS once it’s already powered on. It has no concept of waking a sleeping or shut-down device. Wake-on-LAN (WoL) is a separate feature entirely, and it needs to be wired up on both sides: enabled on the NAS, and added to Home Assistant as its own integration.

You reboot a VM on your Synology NAS, and something that depends on a passed-through USB device just stops working. Virtual Machine Manager still insists the device is “paired,” but the guest OS can’t see it — because it isn’t actually there anymore. The only fix you know is rebooting the VM again and hoping. Spoiler: hope doesn’t scale, especially when it happens while you’re away and whatever depends on that device quietly stops working without telling anyone.
